3 Steps to Quick Meal Prep PART ONE by Nutritionist Sharisse Dalby
FacebookPinTweet

Do you meal prep?

I mean, I’m sure you know you should … but do you actually do it?

A few weeks ago some clients were talking about this daunting task and the hours it takes them to get it all done.

So they asked me – “Is there a faster way?”.

Yes, yes there is.

Watch today’s video to get part one of my 3 steps to quick meal prep (part two is coming next Friday).

Trust me – this stuff is good!

No free time to watch? Okay, just give a quick scroll down to read up on the goods.

3 Steps for Quick Meal Prep

These 3 simple steps will make your meal prep blues a thing of the past. Break it down using this simple method and you can be out of the kitchen in an hour.

1. Set a timer

This is not a joke.

I’m a firm believer in setting limits – as hard as it is. You need to be willing to commit to a set amount of time, even when you don’t feel like it, and then set your timer and stop when it’s done.

That’s right. Put your hands up, take a bow, and walk away.

2. Make a prep list

Take 5 minutes and figure out what items you need to prep from your meal plan and then order them from most important to least important.

This leads you to step three …

3. Re-order in a logical manner

After you make your prep list, take another 5 minutes to re-organize your prep list into a more logical order, where you can squeeze in as much prep as possible.

See how it plays out in the example below.

Example

Step one: Set a timer

I will be setting the timer for 1 hour

Step two: prep list in order of priority

overnight oats, cut veggies, make marinade and marinade chicken, cook ground turkey, make quinoa, and bake banana bread

Step three: re-order in a logical manner

banana bread, quinoa, turkey, veggies, overnight oats, marinades

Step four: time to prep

  1. Make banana bread and place in the oven for 40 minutes (5 min)
  2. Start cooking quinoa 20 min (2 min)
  3. Put turkey on the stove and cook on medium heat for 10-15 minutes (2 min)
  4. Cut veggies (20 min)
    • Take quinoa off of the stove
    • Take turkey off of the stove
  5. Make overnight oats (5 min)
  6. Toss together marinade and pour over meat, place in the fridge (5 min)
    • Take out banana bread
  7. 20 minutes left to do dishes

Remember, if you want to get it done quick and you’re interested in trying this method – you have to be willing to hustle. To get my prep done in an hour I don’t stand around, I go at high speed for the duration of the timer and I knock things off my list!
