It doesn’t matter how much coffee you’ve had or how much sleep you got – you’re exhausted.
You’re overworked and overtired. And it doesn’t help that you’re living through a pandemic either.
But it feels like it’s going beyond just “being tired”, doesn’t it? That’s where fatigue sets in. This eternal exhaustion makes it hard to think, control emotions, and stay motivated.
The question is why are you so fatigued? There are a few common root causes for fatigue:
Stress and Anxiety
Both deplete glucose in the brain which is needed for energy.
Leaky Gut
Causes malabsorption which prevents the absorption of vitamins and minerals needed for energy.
Hormone Imbalance
Low progesterone causes insomnia. But high progesterone causes fatigue, as does low thyroid hormone.
Inflammation
Puts the body under stress, requiring a constant supply of energy for healing. Especially if there’s chronic inflammation.
Sluggish Liver
If your liver isn’t functioning well, neither is your digestion. This causes toxic overload and leads to fatigue.
Obviously, addressing the root cause is the best way to reduce the symptom of fatigue. But in the meantime, there are some other steps you can take to start managing it.
5 Important Ways to Fight Fatigue
- Sleep at least 7 to 9 hours every night. This helps to replenish glucose stores, increasing energy.
- Eat anti-inflammatory foods like fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats to help lower inflammation.
- Exercise for 30 minutes daily to help with oxygen circulation and elimination.
- Eliminate caffeine and alcohol to prevent a false sense of energy or relaxation so you can address the problem.
- Test don’t guess! Work with a nutritionist to test for the root cause. I can test your digestive health, hormones, inflammation, food sensitivities, and more.
