Getting healthy and losing weight can be two very different things.
There, I said it.
Now, you may be furious at me for pointing this out, and may even disagree – but let’s be candid here …
If your focus is losing weight, you will be taking a very different approach from someone whose focus is getting healthy.

Weight Loss vs Getting Healthy
Whichever one you’re focusing on – there’s a clear difference in how you should approach it. Keep reading to learn more.
1. Your Goals
Weight loss and getting healthy are two very different things. Of course, each one can involve the other, but overall you’re going to be razor focused on one or the other.
When your goal is weight loss, you have a single focus – to lose weight. Once you reach that goal, where you go from there can really differ depending on different factors.
When your goal is getting healthy, you usually have multiple focuses. These could include nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress reduction, disease prevention, etc. It is more about lifestyle changes, than a number goal.
Action step: know your goal!
It’s important to figure out which one of these you want to focus on. Not sure? Keep reading to get more insight.
2. Your Habits
Weight loss and getting healthy definitely involve different habits.
For instance – if your goal is weight loss, you’re going to focus on calorie counting, exercising to create a deficit, and a number on the scale.
If your goal is getting healthy, you’re focusing more on intuitive eating, a complete lifestyle habit overhaul, and you don’t even check the scale!
It’s important to understand that your habits will be different based on what your goals are. Weight loss is much more food focused, where as getting healthy is more lifestyle focused.
3. Your Methods
If a client comes to me asking for help with weight loss, I take a very different method than someone who comes to me asking for a lifestyle overhaul … even if they want weight loss too!
To put it bluntly – if your focus is weight loss you’re more likely to go for meal replacement shakes, diets, and very low calorie diets to reach your goals. The problem with this is that you’re not always concerned about whether or not it will be healthy for you in the long run.
But yes, any of those unhealthy methods will help you lose weight … but you won’t be getting yourself any healthier.
So you have to ask yourself – is that what you really want?
Now, if you know you need to lose weight to get healthy, we can find a better overall lifestyle method to help you overcome that … which includes finding the root of the issue. It’s all about lifestyle.
And if you focus on your health instead of just weight loss, the weight will come off as your health increases. Trust me! And if you’ve tried that and it didn’t work, you need to work with me and I’ll help you get to the root of it.
Seriously, think about your purpose. If your goal is solely weight loss, I want to encourage you to consider changing your focus to your health!
