Believe me, I get it.

Keeping up with your work, life and family is a balancing act that can throw any of us off track, so how are we supposed to get this healthy lifestyle thing right too?

Add in the plethora of health advice everywhere and it’s hard to know where to start, let alone what’s “right” or “wrong”.

Sometimes simply knowing a few adjustments we can make in our lifestyle is a breath of fresh air, am I right?

Check out my top three changes you can make in your families lifestyle for your health and to save money. Hey – being healthy doesn’t have to be pricey.

The Biggest Health Mistakes Your Family is Making!

| You get stuck in a rut! |

If you are feeding your kids the same foods over and over and over … you’re in a rut.

Here’s the problem with that:

1. It develops a bland palate – variety is key to develop a wide palate and being willing to try new foods.

2. It creates a nutritional imbalance – they will be toxic in certain vitamins and minerals (from having too much) and deficient in others (because not all foods provide the same nutrients!).

3. It limits their food options – The more nutrients they eat and the more variety in their diet, the more healthy foods they will love.

| You give them a multivitamin |

Yes, you heard me right.

The most useless thing you can spend your money on is a multivitamin. Here’s why:

1. They are the jack of all trades, master of none – Supplements are meant to supplement a healthy diet, period.

If something is still lacking then you or your child may need medicinal doses of something specific, but a multivitamin isn’t going to account for what is or isn’t needed and can pose a major health risk in toxicity or deficiency.

Just don’t do it.

2. Let food by thy medicine – Instead of teaching them to pop pills to get healthy, how about we teach them to use a balanced diet, eh?

Too much to ask?

3. Teach them to eat their vitamins! It’s important that they learn the power that food has medicinally to heal and to keep us healthy, energized and smart.

Yes, I just went there.

| You give them antibiotics instead of probiotics |

Antibiotics are rarely necessary if you set the body up right.

Build it up and it won’t be as easy to tear down!

1. Antibiotics kill – It’s the sad truth. Antibiotics can’t tell them difference between good and bad bacteria, so they go and kill ’em all.

2. Probiotics build up – Taking a good quality probiotic daily will make sure your families gut flora is in good standing so the bad bacteria doesn’t stand a chance.

In fact, if you have enough good bacteria, you won’t even know how many times you were “sick” because it gets dealt with by the probiotics. Nice, eh?

3. Most illnesses go away on their own – without antibiotics. Build up their body right and you can save the wear and tear on their body … plus some cash.

  1. Meal plan as a family
  2. Eat the rainbow
  3. Toss your multivitamins
  4. Involve your family in the meal planning and prepping
  5. Start them on a probiotic
  6. Give them honey lemon water each morning
  7. Try one new food each week

  9. Have fun in the kitchen
