Triple Berry Smoothie

  • Author: Sharisse Dalby
  • Prep Time: 5 minutes

Description

Alkaline water has added minerals to raise its pH, contributing to a more alkaline pH within the body when you consume it. Alkaline water can take the place of tap water when adhering to an alkaline diet, and it also can stand in for tap water, milk, and milk alternatives in smoothies. To simplify this smoothie, I like to use 2 cups of frozen mixed berries instead of fresh, but you can also use the mixture recommended in this recipe. Either way, this is a delicious smoothie that is guaranteed to fill you up and help to boost your immune system.

Recipe from The One-Pot Alkaline Diet Cookbook by Nutritionist Sharisse Dalby

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup alkaline water
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup frozen raspberries
  • 1/2 cup frozen blackberries
  • 1/2 cup cooked quinoa
  • 2 Medjool dates, halved and pitted

Instructions

  1. Add the water, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, quinoa, and dates into a high-speed blender. Blend on high for 60 seconds, or until it reaches a smooth consistency.
  2. Serve immediately.

Notes

NUTRITIONIST TIP

Smoothies can be a healthy start to your day but can be high in sugar if they contain too much fruit. This can lead to blood sugar imbalances that create a quick rise in energy, but then a big crash in the afternoon. Aim to add berries or greens into your smoothies whenever possible because berries are low in sugar, and both are high in fiber leading to better blood sugar balance.
